Dear Parents and Carers,
The PTA Bingo was a great success yesterday evening and good fun was had by all! Thank you to the Y3 parents for organising and hosting. Thank you also to our fantastic Bingo callers, Kieren and Victoria. This is the first fundraising event of the new school year and it was lovely to see it so well attended. We have some exciting plans for the money raised through the PTA events this year and we look forward to sharing details with you very soon.
Mental Health Coffee Morning
The feedback on our Mental Health Coffee Morning, held yesterday morning, was very positive and we hope that those parents who were able to attend found it useful. We hope to arrange a similar session in the Spring Term with Laura, our link school Mental Health practitioner. In addition to this, all our parents are invited to attend the webinars being run by the Mental Health Support Team. Please see the attached flier for details.
Y3 Educational Visit to Kew Gardens
Y3 had a glorious day at Kew Gardens this week where they took part in an art workshop and toured the gardens. Little did we think when we booked this visit that the children would be enjoying beautiful sunshine in the middle of October. It really made for a memorable experience!
Pupil Parliament
Each year, Y6 children from various schools across Richmond gather at York House Council Chamber for Pupil Parliament. This is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to practise public speaking and debate on important issues. This year, Zoey and Matthew were selected to represent St Elizabeth's School and participated extremely well alongside their peers. Zoey and Matthew even met the Mayor of Richmond!
Food Donations
We received a thank you from Richmond Foodbank this week after they received the children’s generous harvest donations. We donated an amazing 20 bags of food and are still collecting if you would like to donate over the course of this term.
Important Road Safety message
In the interests of safety, we would like to remind you to always use the pedestrian crossing on Queen’s Road. Even if you are running late, please do not compromise your safety by crossing elsewhere - the road is too dangerous. If your Y6 child comes to school independently, please make sure that they understand the importance of using the crossing. Remind them to use the safest route, put their mobile phones away and give 100% attention to their environment. We will be reinforcing this message with the children in school.
Linked to this, we would like to remind parents that they must not park on the zig zags on Lower Grove Road. Please also do not move the child safety signs that are there to create a safe, car free space for children to walk.
Rugby Quiz
As the Rugby World Cup enters the quarter final stage, we will be holding our World Cup Countries Challenge next week. Children have been asked to learn facts about the countries and the staff will be going head-to-head in a competition in front of the whole school. Why not try testing each other at home about the flags, capitals and emblems of the Rugby World Cup countries?
