Dear Parents and Carers,

The sun is shining at last and it looks as though the warm weather will be continuing throughout next week. On Monday all children must bring a sun-hat to wear at playtimes and in PE lessons. This can be a school branded cap or a sun hat from home. Please also apply sun-screen to all exposed skin before your child comes to school.

This week in school

Our Y6 pupils took part in a workshop on Shakespeare’s Hamlet this week. The children explored the plot and some of the language of the play with an actor from the Orange Tree Theatre, and Y6 will be going to a performance of the play at the theatre on Friday 28th June.

Sports Update from Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles

Congratulations to the Y5/6 hockey team this week, who competed in the borough tournament. The team played 5 games against other primary schools showing great determination and high skill levels. Every member of the squad scored at least one goal during the day and the highlight was some excellent passing and strong tackling in a 5-1 victory. Well played, everyone!

This week the Sports Committee marked National School Sports Week 2024, by leading an assembly, showcasing photographs of sporting activities from children across the school. They also launched our Challenge Passport, a week long opportunity for children to challenge themselves to improve their skipping, bouncing and table tennis skills.

‘Scientists in a Box’ display

Well done to all the children who created a ‘Scientist in a Box’ or poster during Science Week. These were all shown in assembly today and there were some amazing people and wonderful pupils’ work to celebrate. The projects will be on display in the school hall after school on Monday and parents and carers are invited to come in to see the creations at 3:15pm.

Y6 ‘Choices’ Workshop

Y6 pupils will be taking part in a workshop on ‘Choices’ on Monday 24th June. This helps to prepare them for their move to secondary school as they learn how to deal with peer preference and pressure in a number of active and fun scenarios. Y6 parents, please do talk to your child about what they have learnt after the session.

Y4 Battle of the Books

We wish our Y4 Battle of the Books team all the very best as they represent the school in the Borough Battle of the Books on Wednesday 26th June.

Upcoming Dates

St Elizabeth’s Feast Day – 3rd July

We will be celebrating St Elizabeth’s Feast Day on Wednesday 3rd July. We will begin with a whole school liturgy to which all children in Y3 are invited to wear their First Holy Communion outfits. In the afternoon at 2:30pm we will be having a concert and all parents are invited to attend to watch their child’s class sing. We will be sending more details next week.

Save the Date! School Sponsored Walk – Monday 8th July

We are very excited that our annual school sponsored walk in Richmond Park will be taking place on the morning of Monday 8th July. We will be writing with more details next week, but please save the date if you would like to join us.

Whole school attendance this week is 96.56%. Congratulations to Y4 for having the highest attendance this week with 99.33%. This is closely followed by Y1 and Y5 which have 99% attendance.
