Weekly Update 30th June 2023

Read our newsletter to find out what has been happening in school this week and upcoming events ...

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are entering our busiest time at school with a number of liturgical celebrations, performances, sports events and other events before the end of term. A full list of upcoming dates can be found at the bottom of this weekly update.

Feast Day of Saint Peter and Saint Paul

Yesterday we celebrated the feast day of Saints Peter and Paul with a Mass prepared and led by the Y5 children. We would like to thank Fr George for saying Mass for us, his first at St Elizabeth’s, and we look forward to welcoming him to school again soon.

St Elizabeth’s Feast Day

This morning in assembly, the children have been learning about St Elizabeth of Portugal, our school patron saint. She is a wonderful choice for our school community as she is known as a great peacemaker and for her kindness and care of those in need.

On Tuesday 4th July we will be celebrating St Elizabeth’s Feast Day in school. We will begin with Mass which Fr Stephen will be saying for us. All parents and carers are invited to join us for Mass.

At lunchtime, we will be having a whole school picnic lunch in the KS2 playground and astro-pitch. Those children who have school lunches will be provided with a picnic lunch and children who have packed lunches should provide their own as usual.

And finally, at 2:15pm we will be having an outdoor concert on the astro-pitch where all classes will be singing. This is intended to be a relaxed and fun performance and parents and family members are welcome to join us. Children will return to their classes after the concert and will be dismissed as usual. The Pupil Chaplains will be holding collection buckets after the performance for donations to the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee).

Schola Concert at Our Lady of Loreto and St Winefride

On Monday 3rd July, at 6:30pm, our Schola choir will be performing at Our Lady of Loreto and St Winefride singing a variety of liturgical songs. Thank you to Mrs FitzGerald for organising this concert. All parents and families are very welcome to attend and enjoy what promises to be a wonderful concert. We look forward to seeing you there.

‘Sponsor a Brick’ – fundraiser for school

A number of parents have been asking us about buying a personalised brick to go with the other bricks on the wall by the outdoor gym area. This is a lovely way for your child and your family name to become part of the history of the school and it is also a great fundraiser. A letter explaining how to sponsor a brick has been sent home in your child’s reading packet today.

SEND News

There will be a coffee morning for parents of children with SEND on Wednesday 12th July at 9am. All parents are invited to attend to meet with Mrs Compton, our SENCo, network with other parents and learn about our SEND provision.

If your child receives SEN support you will be receiving an invitation to the termly APDR meeting by email by Monday 3rd July.

End of year reports

The teachers are currently writing an end of year report for each child. These will be sent home in the week of 10th July via your child’s reading packet.
