Dear Parents and Carers,
It feels like Spring might be here and we have had a very welcome ‘wet-play’ free week in school at last!
This week in school
Reconciliation Service
We are continuing our journey through Lent and yesterday our Y6 children led a Lenten Reconciliation Service for our KS2 children. They acted out the story of Jesus meeting Zacchaeus and they showed the children the importance of saying sorry and asking for forgiveness. We would like to thank Monsignor Bill and Fr Peter Andrews for coming into school to give our Y5 and Y6 children the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation.
Sports Update from Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles
This week, the Y6 netball team took part in the Borough Tournament at Barn Elms. In the morning, we competed against 4 teams in a pool and played some of our most fluent netball of the season. We played a further 4 games in the afternoon and the team scored some good goals and showed how much their skills have improved since the start of the season. We are proud of the spirit and passion the team showed - well done all!
Next week in school
Monday 11th March - Book Character Day
It is Book and Arts Week in school next week and we have an exciting range of enrichment activities planned. The week begins with ‘Book Character Day’ on Monday 11th March when children and staff come into school dressed as a favourite book character. Costumes can be as simple or as complex as you like and there are lots of ideas online if you need some inspiration. Please note that children who have PE lessons on Monday do not need to wear PE kits or bring their PE kits into school and can wear their costume all day instead. For children who attend Hockey Club before school, these children should wear their PE kit and change into their costume after the club. For children who attend Football Club after school, these children should bring in their PE kit with trainers to change into.
The week will continue with a visiting artist who will be leading practical sessions with all classes and we have our guest author Cath Howe. Please do visit Cath Howe’s website for more details http://www.cathhowe.com
Please remember to send through your payment for our Book and Arts Week activities, as part of our Spring Term requested contribution of £12.50. These contributions are essential in enabling us to give the children such valuable, enriching experiences.
Parents’ Coffee Morning with a presentation by the Mental Health Support Team
Mrs Compton will be hosting another parents’ coffee morning on Friday 15th March at 9:00 am and all parents are warmly invited to attend. A Mental Health Support Team practitioner will be giving a presentation on helping children to regulate their feelings and there will be a chance for questions and conversation with other parents. Please do come along after drop off on Friday even if you can only stay for a short while.
Y6 Junior Citizen – Friday 15th March
Y6 will be visiting Holly Lodge for Junior Citizen Day on the morning of Friday 15th March. Children should wear PE kits and remember their raincoats as many of the activities are outside.
