Weekly Update 28th June 2024
Read our newsletter to find out what has been happening in school this week and upcoming events ...
Dear Parents and Carers,
Good news to share this week as our Y4 Battle of the Books team came first in the Richmond Borough KS2 competition on Wednesday 26th June. They competed against twelve other schools coming first in the quiz round and second in the drama to win overall and bring the trophy home! Well done to Maxim, Max, Dearbhla, Alice, Dylan and Honor and thank you to Mrs Briggs, our school librarian for preparing the team so well!
It was lovely to welcome our new Reception pupils into school for their induction session this week – the start of their journey at St Elizabeth’s.
At the other end of their school journey, our Y6 pupils have had a busy week with their ‘Choices’ workshop on Monday and their visit to the Orange Tree Theatre to see Shakespeare’s Hamlet this afternoon – a great opportunity to see a professional play ahead of their own performance of Peter Pan The Musical in July.
Next week in school
Y4 and Y5 visit to Neasden Temple – Monday 1st July
On Monday 1st July our Y4 and Y5 children will be visiting the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden as part of their study of Hinduism. Full details of the visit including the cost have been sent to Y4 and Y5 parents via Parentmail. The payment request will be set up shortly in Arbor as we move over to our new communications system.
St Elizabeth’s Feast Day – Wednesday 3rd July
We are looking forward to our celebrations for St Elizabeth’s Feast Day on Wednesday 3rd July. The day will begin with Mass at 9:30am with Fr George from St Thomas Aquinas, to which all parents are invited. This will be followed by a picnic lunch for the children. At 2:15pm parents are invited to a ‘relaxed and fun’ concert where each class will sing a song. And finally at 3:30pm Cream Teas will be on sale on the driveway, hosted by Y6 parents and children. It promises to be a wonderful day, celebrating our patron saint and role model, St Elizabeth.
KS2 Sports Day – Friday 5th July
The KS2 Sports day will be taking place on Friday 5th July at 9:30am at Christ’s School playing fields. All children in KS2 will be taking part and we will be emailing full details of the event next week.
Sponsored Walk – Monday 8th July
We are delighted to see the return of our whole school Sponsored Walk in Richmond Park. This had always been an annual event up until the pandemic. We are so lucky that our school is located right next to Richmond Park and the walk is a wonderful way to engage children in the park while raising money for the school. Our Y2 class are co-ordinating the event with the school and have sent the following message.
Please see the attached flyer for an exciting new event on the school calendar this year - The Richmond Park Sponsored Walk. This will be taking place in the morning on Monday 8th July. The event is open to parents, siblings and dogs (on leads) so please do join us for this fun-filled event!!
We have placed sponsorship forms in the children’s book bags today so please circulate these to extended family, friends and neighbours to make this a bumper fundraising event and to celebrate the children‘s efforts in completing the challenge!!
We will also circulate a link for our JustGiving Page next week.
