Weekly Update 19th April 2024

Read our newsletter to find out what has been happening in school this week and upcoming events ...

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you all enjoyed a peaceful Easter holiday with your families. It has been lovely to see the children return for the start of the Summer Term. Well done to those children who have chosen to wear their summer uniforms despite the wintry temperatures. Children can continue to wear either their winter or summer uniform next week.

Our Summer Term dates and our Termly Topic Information for parents will both be sent to you next week. The dates of events for April and May can be found at the end of this email.

This week in school

Reception planting session

The Reception children are learning about ‘Growing’ this term and they have planted their own seeds this week which they will watch grow over the coming weeks. It is wonderful to see how much they cherish their plants and can talk about what they need to grow! Thank you to the team of parent helpers who came in to help with the planting. There is another gardening session for Reception parents on Tuesday 23rd April after drop-off.

Next week in school

Extra-curricular clubs start next week

Extra-curricular clubs start next week from Monday. Please may we remind parents to ensure that they have returned the school clubs registration form to confirm which clubs, both those run by school and those from external providers, their child will be taking part in this term? This enables the school club co-ordinators to compile the registers in time for the first club session. Thank you.

Please note that there will be no Junior Choir next week. Junior Choir will begin on 2nd May.

Piano Concert – Wednesday 24th April at 3:30pm

There will be a Piano Concert next Wednesday after school and all children who are learning the piano are welcome to perform. Children should let Mrs FitzGerald know that they would like to take part and all parents are welcome to attend.

Easter Traditions Assembly

Our children come from many different cultural backgrounds and we would like to share how Easter is celebrated in our school families. We are encouraging children to share their Easter traditions and celebrations with the rest of the school. Your child can bring in photographs, artefacts or upload photographs onto Google Classroom to present in assembly on Tuesday 23rd April.

PTA Quiz Night – Thursday 25th April

There is still time to get your tickets for the PTA Quiz Night taking place next Thursday at 7:30pm. Always a fun evening, if you do not have a team yet but would like to come along, please do contact your PTA class rep – everyone is welcome. We are busy preparing the questions for the quiz and I can confirm that there will be a round of questions set by the children in each of the classes and also the return of Mrs Diver’s music round!

Information for Parents

Fundraising for school

I would like to thank everyone who responded to our appeal for more donations to our ‘School Fund’ last term. We have had a great response and we are extremely grateful for all of your generosity. We will be resending the details of how to make a donation again next week for your consideration.

‘Sponsor a Brick’

The new sponsored bricks were fixed to the wall over the Easter holiday, so please do take a look if you bought one of these for your family. As well as raising essential funds for the school, this is such a lovely reminder of your child’s time at St Elizabeth’s. If you missed the chance to sponsor a brick in the last round, it is likely we will be offering these again in the summer of 2025.
